As the Reservations Assistant Manager, you and your team are the first impression of Taos Ski Valley including The Blake and Taos Air. You exhibit an unrehearsed sense of hospitality while working in a fast-paced environment and learn from each new challenge presented to you. You help create energy and excitement for the reservations team members who deliver positive experiences for guests, both internal and external. You provide support in the preparation and execution of each guest’s vacation, adding unique and personal touches to their experience. With a yearning to listen, you’re highly skilled at uncovering guests’ needs and following through with enlightening solutions and unhesitating sincerity. The Reservations Assistant Manager is passionate, adventurous, open-hearted, with an easy, unrehearsed sense of hospitality. He/She will promote the spirit of generosity and community, shared with guests through simple gestures that inspire lasting relationships. This position supports the Revenue and Reservations Manager in the recruitment, training, and supervision of the reservations team responsible for Slopeside Lodging, Taos Air and other various reservations for Taos Ski Valley. Responsibilities include assisting with interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems, and other duties or tasks as assigned by the Reservations Manager.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Conducts oneself with safety in mind and undertakes all job requirements in a manner which will guarantee a safe environment for oneself, guests, and fellow team members.
  • Has a pleasant and courteous phone voice.
  • Ability to assist in system configuration, rate and package building.
  • Supervises the local reservations office and agents, including scheduling, training and coaching.
  • Evaluates and elevates the production levels of reservations’ personnel.
  • Follows departmental opening and closing procedures
  • Answers phone calls and returns emails in a prompt and professional manner.
  • Supports the integration of new properties and products into the reservations’ department.
  • Assists with detecting system glitches and troubleshooting in multiple computer software and/or applications.
  • Assists in the management of The Blake’s and Taos Ski Valley’s reservations products including vendor relationships, ongoing training and product enhancements.
  • Conducts oneself with integrity, respect and compassion, recognizing that each individual’s unique attributes contribute to the overall success of TSV.
  • Strives for open, honest, and effective communication in order to build trust in our relationships with our guests and fellow employees.
  • Reliable attendance on all scheduled workdays.

Qualifications/Knowledge:

  • Must be highly detail-oriented
  • Must give and take constructive criticism and frequent coaching well
  • Must be able to accurately follow instructions, both verbally and written
  • System knowledge is preferred but not required. IE: Springer Miller Systems, Inntopia, Siriusware, etc.
  • Must be willing to ask for help and/or clarification
  • Must be able to adapt to change in policy and/or procedures as directed and offer suggestions to improve operations.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office, strong typing skills and computer knowledge
  • Strong communication skills
  • Prior hospitality experience required, industry-specific experience preferred
  • Previous Assistant Manager experience preferred
  • Fluent in verbal and written English, other language skills preferred
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and evenings.

Work Environment:

Taos Ski Valley, Inc. is often a fast-paced work environment, especially during Holiday and Peak days. TSVI is located in a high-altitude alpine environment. Position may require travel on uneven, snow-packed, or icy terrain and may be exposed to wet, cold, and/or humid conditions. Must be able to work in close quarters and with other staff.

Physical Demands of Position Include:

Occasionally might have to lift or move office items up to 10lbs. 5% of time may be sent walking, occasionally outdoors or on snow/ice, to meetings or other departments, 5% of time may be spent reaching for items and 90% of time will be spent sitting working with the computer or on the phone either talking or listening.
