The Chief Operating Office (COO) is responsible for delivering a more consistent approach to business operations across Wells Fargo, strengthening the company’s risk and control infrastructure, and delivering effective and efficient enterprise services to employees and customers.

The COO group includes the head of Operations, who is jointly responsible for line of business operations with each of the five LOB CEOs. Operations functions include contact center operations, client servicing support, money movements within our businesses, lending operations, and other functions.

The COO group also includes a number of teams dedicated to strengthening Wells Fargo’s risk and control infrastructure. These include the Control Executive team; Regulatory and Policy Affairs; Enterprise Customer Excellence; Sales Practices Oversight and Management; and Strategic Execution and Operations.

The Chief Administrative Office, encompassing the Corporate Properties Group; Corporate Security; Enterprise Business Resiliency; Strategic Programs and Process Improvement; Enterprise Change Management; Supply Chain Management; and Data Management and Insights, delivers important services for our employees and customers

This position will act as the metadata coordinator for Master & Reference Data Authorized Provisioning Point (MRD APP), leading the team’s comprehensive metadata efforts to ensure compliance with enterprise policy, and will report to the MRD APP Data Management Manager.

Develops and coordinates programs, initiatives for data quality, governance, and metadata activities. Develops tools and processes used to maintain a common, firm-wide data standard. Analyzes, assess and tests data controls and data systems to ensure quality and risk compliance standards are met.

May define strategic requirements, roadmap, or direction for metadata capabilities. Drive analysis and assessment approach during issue remediation life cycle. Supports and interacts with various functions and LOBs on cross-application remediation efforts. Leverages domain expertise and data / business / process analysis to inform and support solution design. May drive planning and coordination on low to medium sized remediation efforts, acting as central point of contact. May provide inputs into communication routines with stakeholders, business partners, and senior leaders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating the metadata function for MRD APP to ensure compliance with enterprise policies.
  • Interfaces with Lines of Business, Technology, Data Quality, and Policy partners to source, load, validate, report on, and remediate technical metadata and business metadata on a timely basis.
  • Assists in gathering Application Business Owner approvals for data dictionaries and other related work.
  • Will prepare documentation to support metadata-driven initiatives.
  • Ability to negotiate timelines, build relationships and be self-directed.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: data management, data governance, data quality or data analysis demonstrated through work or military experience
  • 5+ years of experience in data management related areas such as metadata or lineage, data governance or data quality
  • 2+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following Wells Fargo data management & integration tools: Data Control Tool/Data Control Integration (DCT/DCI), Enterprise Metadata Hub (EMH), Collibra Data Governance
  • 3+ years of Metadata experience
  • 3+ years of relationship management experience with business and technology partners
  • 2+ years of experience with data analysis and documentation

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge and understanding of data governance challenges and approaches: metadata, data quality, and data stewardship
  • Knowledge and understanding of database querying and creating ad hoc reporting results using SQL or similar querying methods
  • Ability to work effectively, as well as independently, in a team environment
  • Ability to negotiate, influence, and collaborate to build successful relationships

Other Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with Jira or other similar task tracking tool
  • 2+ years of Collibra or similar data dictionary tool experience

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
