As the Sr. NPI Eng, this individual will be responsible to lead the fabrication and assembly of prototype hardware including establishment of DFM objectives, design review and sign-off, and close coordination with the operations resources and hardware design team. This individual will ensure that manufacturing concerns are discussed, and mitigated and that hardware designs can be repetitively fabricated and assembled in a low volume, high complexity, production environment utilizing a mix of contract manufactures and in-house assembly.Requirements10+ years experience supporting space flight hardwareBS Engineering degree in related discipline minimumExtensive experience supporting complex space flight hardware development projects in the following capacities: provide DFM input to the design; extensive experience in a space flight production environment responsible for creating, establishing, documenting, and validating production methods and processes; and proven strong leadership skills.Extensive experience in the following technologies for space applications is highly preferred: Electronic hardware fabrication and assembly, machining of metal structures, cable and harness assemblies, die attach, and wire bond.Direct new product introduction (NPI) engineering and/or manufacturing engineering experience supporting product development, prototype hardware builds, LRIP and initial production start-up for space applications of electronics and electro-mechanical hardware.* Expert knowledge of Space Flight hardware workmanship standards* Demonstrated success overseeing Space/Flight prototype builds of Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA), Micro-electronics fabrication and assembly, Electro-mechanical box builds, and Cable and harness assemblies.* Ideal candidate will have extensive leadership experience with both internal manufacturing and contract manufacturing partners Strong manufacturing process knowledge in one or more of the following: materials science; bare board fabrication; surface mount and through-hole assembly; Mirco- Electronics including: wire-bonding, die attach, silver-epoxy (or other conductive adhesives), and epoxy lamination; machining, metal forming, casting; cable and harness assembly NPI experience supporting development teams and transitioning new products to production* Demonstrated ability of working within a matrixed, cross-functional team.* Works autonomously and helps determine methods and procedures* May train and mentor junior level staff* Excellent organization and communications skills* PC literacy with competency in MS Office, project management, product collaboration SW, and ERP systems.* Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (hardware oriented EE, ME or IE)* US citizenship required.* Ability to travel up to 20% of the time during certain phases of the program development lifecyclePreferencesTo learn more about this site and other office locations, please click here!
