Job Description

Microchip is seeking an Applications Engineer to join the Analog Products and Interface Division (APID) and be part of the Functional Safety and CAN/LIN interface products team.

The Applications Engineer will primarily support Functional Safety activities within APID, e.g.

development of ISO 26262 work products and the management of the functional safety lifecycle during New Product Development (NPD).

The Applications Engineer will also support the NPD of CAN/LIN SBC and external CAN controllers.

Job Responsibilities
Create FMEDA, safety manual and other ISO 26262 work products Develop FuSa training material Train members of other product lines within APID on FuSa Support the definition of the functional safety compliant NPD process Create data sheets, evaluation boards, and application notes Support customers, field, and marketing with analog interface products
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering with at least 5 years experience At least 3 years of analog products experience as an Applications Engineer At least 2 years of Functional Safety experience Working knowledge of ISO 26262 FIT calculation, FMEDA, Safety Manuals Excellent communication and presentation skills Ability to work in remote team environments Fast learner, can do attitude Experience with Firmware design for microcontrollers in C Proficiency in Excel and Word
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with IEC 61508 work product development Experience with managing the ISO 26262 compliant safety lifecycle Experience with SDL Tridion Docs Experience with Polarion® ALM™ Experience with CAN and LIN analog products
