Principal DevOps Engineer

The Principal DevOps Engineer is responsible for continuous improvement enabling frictionless delivery of value to Patterson customers.

The role drives continuous improvement in delivery of resilient, scalable, performant, secure, and high-quality cloud-native services.

Working in collaboration with Patterson cross-functional service teams, you will drive improvement of enterprise cloud capabilities while creating best practices and tools to empower developers to create and deploy services.

As a leader in the organization this role is responsible for the coaching and mentoring of team members in DevOps culture, highly scalable architectures, and lean development utilizing Agile practices.

Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate in a multi-disciplinary team Lead the implementation of Cloud and DevOps technology solutions and patterns to accelerate CI/CD capabilities infrastructure as code and orchestration, provisioning, and scaling for cloud products & services Design, deploy, manage, secure, and drive improvements for the enabling capabilities of Patterson cloud applications and services.

Proven experience as Lead or Principal contributor in the creation and maintenance of cloud infrastructure for SaaS software Support a Web-based SaaS application and related system in partnership with the user community along with internal and vendor technology staff Continuously build, automate, and improve upon capabilities that are secure, scalable, performant, and resilient Works closely with Infrastructure, Network, Security, Architecture, and Development teams to build a highly performing, scalable, and secure Azure environments Maintain technical proficiency with all related and relevant software and computer systems.

Define needs by documenting processes; includes research, planning and writing supporting documentation.

Understand the various business entities and cross divisional relationships.

Minimum Qualifications : Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Sciences or area of functional responsibility preferred, or equivalent years of industry work experience 8-10 years of DevOps engineering or similar experience in a cloud environment Experience focused on building cloud capabilities and site reliability engineering, CI/CD pipelines, enabling cross-functional autonomous teams, and fostering continuous improvement in a cloud-native environment 3 years proven experience with cloud-native solutions Interacts with vendors and service providers to resolve complex system related problems Able to communicate at multiple levels of the organization from peers to VPs Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment with minimal direction while supporting the growth of other team members Preferred Qualifications : 3 years in similar role with cloud providers and cloud-native solutions (Azure preferred) Experience with breaking services and products into microservices Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language Proven experience with application performance monitoring tools (Dynatrace, AppDynamics) Experience with incident management practices and 4 9’s of uptime What’s In It For You: We provide competitive benefits, unique incentive programs and rewards for our eligible employees: Full Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits and an integrated Wellness Program.
