The position is located in beautiful Green Valley, Arizona, 25 miles south of Tucson. We offer a warm, family environment, and would love for you to consider being part of our family!Position Summary:Provides Occupational Therapy services which assist patients to improve their ability to perform tasks in their living and or working environment. Patients may have mental, physical, developmental and emotional disabling conditions in inpatient and outpatient settings. Patient populations may include neuromuscular, orthopedic, sensory-motor, behavioral and or emotional limitation including all age ranges. Provide supervision for occupational therapy assistants, support staff and students as needed.Major Duties:Provides care appropriate to the age of patients served and the population of the patient served in the areas of Occupational Therapy.Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the appropriate life span.Ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to their age-specific needs.Provides the care needed as described by the department’s policies and procedures.Plans and implements therapy programs for each patient and is appropriate for their age group.Demonstrates competency in use of priority equipment.Pursues education in the field to maintain high standards of patient care.Demonstrates competency in specific clinical skills to treat individual patient needs.Provides Occupational Therapy evaluations, reassessments, prognosis/discharge recommendations, treatment, care planning and patient education within the scope of practice as defined by the Arizona Board of Occupational Therapy.Uses professional judgment when delegating tasks and treatment to assistants and technicians, and PCT’s. Supervises ancillary personnel thoroughly in all aspects of patient care.Co-signs notes when appropriate. Orients and assists with on-the-job training of therapy staff. Takes initiative and is motivated in areas of program development and the betterment of the department in general.Willingly participates in new staff orientation training. If qualified, acts as a clinical instructor to students, providing a healthy learning environment.Offers timely appropriate solutions and guidance to support staff and students.Provides in-service training interdepartmentally. Provides staff cross-coverage intradepartmental.Assess the need for equipment; fabricate/fit splints, braces and other adaptive equipment and train patients in their use. Contact the appropriate resources to obtain these items. Train the patient and or caregiver in the use of this equipment.Provide complete, accurate, and timely documentation of all evaluations and interventions. All patient documentation should be completed the same day delivered, if possible, following the treatment session. Billing for services should be accurate and match the documented care delivered. Billing should be done on the same day of service.Provide education to the patient, family, and caregiver regarding findings, treatment, and care plan. Education should be done in the patients preferred learning style and incorporate the patient’s understood language. Documentation should include assessment of the patient’s learning.Provide continuum of care according to regulations and code of ethics including collaboration and communication with the medical team regarding patient plan of care.Utilizes effective, appropriate and professional written and verbal communication with staff and other members of the health care team.Actively participates and openly communicates during staff meetings and peer reviews. Conducts self in a courteous and prompt manner.Provides open communication with all members of health care team with regards to suggestions, concerns, etc.Maintains patient confidentiality.Written documentation complies with department, DNV and Medicare guidelines and is completed in a timely manner.Demonstrates responsibility for a safe environment and infection control. Adheres to Santa Cruz Valley Regional Hospital safety and infection control policies with patient care.Demonstrates competency in use of specified priority equipment, or any other therapeutic intervention.Monitors supplies and equipment to ensure adequate supply or optimum function of each. Supervises safety and cleanliness of all equipment.Performs other related duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications and Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree or higher in Occupational Therapy from an accredited college required.Possession of a current Arizona Occupational Therapy license required.Healthcare provider CPR certification required.2-5 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist preferred.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Anatomy and physiology, pathology, and pharmacology as it relates to Occupational Therapy.Computer skills, interpersonal relationships, problem solving, customer service.Effectively communicate, document and educate patients, family, caregivers and staff.Day Shift – Weekends
