These are exciting, busy times in our Pharmacy as we strive to provide a full suite of pharmacy care services from acute care and transitions into ambulatory, home and telehealth care areas. A solid infrastructure to support our pharmacy services is in place, with our current focus to optimize and integrate our services. These service focus areas include: Inpatient, Emergency Department pharmacist, direct patient care, Care Transitions – medication reconciliation/meds to beds prior to hospital discharge, outpatient and specialty pharmacy drug distribution, 340B Program and financial integrity expansion, oncology clinical model expansion including oral chemotherapy and pharmacogenomics, PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Program, Stewardship-Antimicrobial and Opioid, and expansion of our pharmacist collaborative practice model Disease Management Clinic. All our endeavors strive to provide the best possible pharmaceutical care to meet the needs of our community and organization.Responsibilities:Assists with scheduling and budgeting activities, participates in performance improvement activitiesand educates staff about same.Supervises and coordinates pharmacists and technical staff in pharmaceutical services related to thepreparation and dispensing of drugs and other pharmaceutical supplies.Interprets physician prescriptions and medication orders; acts as a drug information resource topatients, medical staff, nursing staff and ancillary department personnel.Compounds and dispenses prescribed medications and other pharmaceuticals for patient care byperforming the related duties.Supervises, coordinates, and participates in the preparation, labeling and dispensing of drugs and otherpharmaceutical supplies; ensure compliance with Federal, State and local laws and regulationspertaining to the dispensing of drugs and narcotics and maintenance of all required records.Coordinate billing and accountability processes for drugs and services.Coordinates the Pharmacy’s quality improvement process.Coordinates Pharmacy computer system operations.Coordinates Pharmacy financial, quality and operational data gathering and analysis.Coordinate extemporaneously compounded medication, including aseptic preparation of medicationand adherence to reference standards (USP797).Plan and schedule work for the shift group ensuring proper distribution of assignments and adequatemanning, space and facilities for subsequent performance of duties.Maintain and support the Hospital Formulary and inventory, supervising the pharmacy buyer inreordering and stocking drugs and supplies as required.Train new personnel, including developing/assisting in Pharmacy staff competencies.Maintain interface with medical staff to provide information pertaining to new pharmaceuticalsupplies, formulary, drug usage and compatibility and new regulations regarding drug controls.Assist as required in Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee activities.Assist in maintenance and expansion of acute and ambulatory care pharmacy services.Qualifications:Requirements:Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy with a Bachelor’s of Science in Pharmacy or Pharmacy Doctorate.Licensed or ability to be licensed in the State of Arizona.Hospital Pharmacy experience of at least five years, including two years at a tertiary care center in a supervisory/management position.#Tammy3
