Academic Supports Instructional Coach

Purpose Statement

Under the direction and supervision of the site principal, the Academic Instructional Support Coach will work to support the goals and objectives of the school’s academic supports programs. The Academic Support Instructional Coach will assist the principal with management of instructional support services and perform related duties as required.

Qualifications and Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education (Master’s degree in Education preferred).
  • Must possess a valid Arizona Teaching Certificate (Principal Certificate preferred).
  • Must possess current Arizona fingerprint card.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of successful classroom instruction at the secondary level.
  • Evidence of communication skills and collaborative leadership.
  • Must possess strong organization skills
  • Must demonstrate strong knowledge and skill using student information system (i.e. Synergy)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, implement, and monitor academic supports program for students.
  • Gather and examine data to identify students’ needs
  • Work with PLCs to identify student needs
  • Train and support teachers in meeting the academic needs of students during the academic supports program
  • Managing attendance and report discipline concerns for the academic supports program
  • Assist and actively support other academic supports such as after school tutoring, fall, winter, spring, and summer break sessions.
  • Build academic supports program student schedule and manage logistics associated with scheduling students for academic supports, to include enrichment opportunities such as clubs and other extracurricular programs.
  • Manage teacher and staff supervision duty schedules as needed
  • Manage measures of success to determine if the academic supports program is working as intended
  • Assume tutoring coordinator duties and responsibilities
  • Communicate with parents, staff, and the community to promote academic supports program opportunities for students
  • Work with administration to ensure academic supports program is being utilized as intended
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Conduct classroom walkthroughs.
  • Identify, coordinate, and/or support staff development.
  • Maintain appropriate files and records.
  • Manage the tasks specific to the assignment as provided by the principal.
  • Other duties as assigned

Working Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling; and some fine finger dexterity. The job is performed in a somewhat clean and healthy environment. The working hours are somewhat flexible as the job requires some evening and Saturday work.

Responsible to: Site Principal. Terms of Employment: Nine-months, full-time. Evaluation: This position will be evaluated annually as outlined in Governing Board Policy. FLSA Status: Exempt. Salary Range: Certified Teacher Initial Placement Salary Schedule.
