Lead Business Information Architect

Purpose of Job
We are currently seeking a talented Lead Business Information Architect for one of the following locations: San Antonio Home Office I, Phoenix or Remote.

Selected candidate will be part of Enterprise architecture team (EIA). EIA is part of Enterprise Information Risk Services (EIRS) and objective is to manage USAA information risk. They will work with IBM technologies including Infoshere suite of products. As a BIA lead in the hub, primary responsibilities include designing and implementing EIA products (services) that includes creation of Information policy, standards, process, procedures, tools, monitoring and enforcement. Holds responsibility for the development and implementation of the information architecture to support the measuring and monitoring of enterprise business needs. Collaborates with the architectural communities and other information management activities. Influences and drives awareness of information strategy and architecture to the enterprise. Maintains the design around the full set of Enterprise information capabilities that support existing and strategic business capabilities.

Job Requirements

Tasks:
Leads the performance of regular assessments of the health and maturity of information capabilities for a given domain.
Applies expert knowledge to identify new information capabilities needed to support business capabilities of a given business domain.
Maintains the information capability repository with these identified needs.
Leads efforts in defining the mission, goals, critical success factors, principles, policies and Statements of Direction for information strategy and information architecture.
Accountable for achieving business objectives and results.
Partners with the Business Information Architects and other technical and business architects to enable the development of the USAA Integrated Information Capability Roadmap.
Provides guidance to cross functional team members to ensure goal achievement and team success.
Partners with key stakeholders to build the business cases required to secure approval and funding for the Data and Analytical efforts needed to support the Information Capability Roadmap.
Advises and makes recommendations to senior management. Leads the development and maintenance of a conceptual model for information capabilities for a given domain.
Understands end to end change impact by managing linkages from information capabilities to technical assets (operational + analytical).
Leads the development and maintenance of an integrated logical data model to understand data and its inter-dependencies regardless of its usage pattern.
Provides consultation and guidance regarding the usage of the enterprise integrated logical model for use in development.
Sets the direction regarding the appropriate data sources to be used in solution development and delivery.

Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Architecture, Information Management, Information and Data Science, Information Studies or a related technical field (4 years work experience in information management or related experience can be substituted in lieu of a degree in addition to the minimum years of work experience required)
OR
A Master’s Degree in Information Architecture, Information Management, Information and Data Science, Information Studies or a related technical field
OR
A PhD in Information Architecture, Information Management, Information and Data Science, Information Studies or a related technical field

Minimum Experience:
If Bachelor’s degree,
8 or more years experience in information and/or data architecture to include strategy, planning, and delivery oversight
3 or more years of direct and/or indirect management experience
OR
If Master’s degree,
6 or more years experience in information and/or data architecture to include strategy, planning, and delivery oversight
3 or more years of direct and/or indirect management experience
OR
If PhD,
5 or more years experience in information and/or data architecture to include strategy, planning, and delivery oversight
3 or more years of direct and/or indirect management experience

Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience/knowledge of Financial Services products and processes (Life Insurance, Annuities, Health, Investments, and Financial Advice)
Preferred knowledge in designing information products & value driven approach (infonomics)
Demonstrated strategic thinker, Plans information architecture by studying the business strategy and target audience; envisioning architectural scheme, information structure and features, functionality, and user-interface design (APIs);
Demonstrated knowledge in all architecture disciplines including Information architecture, Data Architecture & Data Modeling aspects
Identifies user requirements by researching and analyzing user needs, preferences, objectives, and working methods; studying how users consume content, including data categorization and labeling; meeting with focus groups.
Demonstrated experience using IBM IIW/IFW 8.9 in developing business terms, supportive content, Business Data Model, Atomic Warehouse model & Dimensional warehouse model
Demonstrated experience using IBM InfoSphere Information Server Suite including Information Governance Catalog
preferred experience using IBM InfoSphere Data Architect including data modeling capabilities to discover, model, relate, and standardize diverse and distributed data assets across the enterprise, at all points in the data design lifecycle; preparing logical data models;
Experience working in a hub and spoke model or a highly matrixed organization
