The National Client Group (NCG) within Merchant Services – U.S.

is responsible of overseeing the largest and most strategic U.S.

– based Merchants.

B2B growth remains a critical priority for the Global Merchant Services business at American Express and this role offers a prime opportunity to help American Express compete in a dynamic & evolving industry.

This Business Analyst will advise and support a Vice President & General Manager managing a $95B portfolio of highly strategic, diverse merchants and their Director/Senior manager account teams across a range of B2B growth industries such as Technology, Advertising, Healthcare, Shipping and Industrial suppliers.

This includes various requests for the consolidation of team data and information as well as spearheading collaborative efforts with partner teams across the organization.

This role will partner with the other Business Analysts in NCG in the development of NCG wide efforts including Business Unit Review strategy documents for the group President, Town Hall presentations and strategy sessions.

Additionally, the Analyst will play a key role in supporting his / her VP on all team related activities such as team meetings, team building events (planning to execution), budget tracking and strategy / planning sessions.

The role requires strong collaboration across the NCG Analyst team, the B2B team, NCG as well as key partner teams such as Pricing and Reporting and the NCG Executive Office.

Key roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Operate as a key advisor and support to VP and General Manager on internal and external strategies to drive revenue and merchant/employee satisfaction and engagement
  • Research, analyze and prepare data and insights for industry analysis, merchant strategy development and business reviews as well as internal account planning
  • Play an active role in the team, contributing, building on and corralling ideas and recommendations to help drive growth of charge volume and revenue across both the portfolio and the NCG organization
  • Support reoccurring and ad-hoc reporting requirements for internal and external customers (including maintenance of merchant hierarchy) using reporting and data tools
  • Support Senior Managers & Directors in promoting increased merchant satisfaction, navigating across business partners to help facilitate resolution on process or operational escalations
  • Share and leverage best practices across the B2B team and broader National Client Group
  • Project manage key internal merchant facing initiatives across the Leadership Team (e.g.

    Business Unit Reviews)

  • Manage periodic reviews of pricing data for team
  • Help lead key team activities including teambuilding events, team meetings and leadership team strategy sessions

  • Bachelors Degree or 2 years of work experience.
