Vitalant: Director, Tax Accounting & Financial Services


This is a Full-time position in Scottsdale, AZ posted July 11, 2021.

This position can be located remotely anywhere within the United States PRIMARY PURPOSE: Under minimal direction, this position oversees all federal, state, local tax, and registration filings, including 990s and sales and property tax exemptions.

Actively participates in process improvement, ERP planning, implementation and maintenance, and internal and external audits.

This position is a key member of the accounting leadership team, leading through change, and providing support and advisement on the continuing development of the processes, controls, and operations of the team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Performs all assigned duties in compliance with internal SOPs and external regulations.

Brings compliance issues to the attention of management.Assures quality customer service to all customers.Provides support, training, mentoring, and development to reporting staff on an ongoing basis to ensure the department performs at a maximum performance level.

Plans, schedules, and leads the staff to promote efficiency in completing their job responsibilities.Maintains successful day-to-day operation of the department functions, while adhering to GAAP and corporate accounting policies.

Oversees and provides guidance in the organization’s monthly and year-end closing process.Maintains an understanding of accounting concepts, methods, standards, principles, and technology, and makes sounds decisions and recommendations based on that understanding.

Advises leadership on accounting, tax, 340b rules and regulations.Primary Finance liaison for capitated insurance company, investment, and pension fund managers.Familiar with monthly, quarterly financial reports, including P& L and balance sheet.Collaborates with other department Directors to improve service quality, process maximization and efficiency in all accounting areas.Strategically analyze and determine processes at increased risk for financial misstatement and establish procedures for monitoring to reduce risk.Develops and maintains internal control policies, guidelines and procedures ensuring conformity to GAAP, corporate policies, and state and federal regulations.Reviews and performs technical research for proper accounting treatments and provide guidance to divisions and subsidiaries.Supports the external financial and compliance audit.

Partners with internal auditors.Director provides partnership related to contracts, obligations, and settlements.Performs all other duties, at the discretion of management, as assigned.REQUIREMENTS:Knowledge/EducationBachelor’s degree required.MBA preferred.Thorough knowledge and application of U.S.

GAAP required.Comprehensive knowledge of current and evolving best practices and industry trends required.Licenses/CertificationsCPA certification preferred.ExperienceEight years of progressive accounting management experience required.

To include: Four years of leadership experience required.

Two years of experience managing a remote workforce preferred.Experience with State, Local and Federal Non-profit tax registrations, and filings required.Knowledge of Sales tax and Property tax filings and exemptions preferred.
